Madougushi Dahlia wa Utsumukanai follows a young Japanese woman who dies from overwork and is reborn as Dahliya Rossetti, the daughter of a newly ennobled baron in a world shaped by magical tools. Her father, Carlo, is a beloved magic artificer whose work turns magic into practical everyday inventions, and Dahliya grows up inspired by him. Drawing on memories from her previous life, she creates useful devices of her own and sets out to become a magic artificer like Carlo.
A few years later, the now adult Dahliya has made a name for herself and becomes engaged to her father's apprentice, only for her life to unravel soon after. Carlo suddenly passes away, her fiancé leaves her for another woman, and Dahliya is forced to fend for herself as a single woman while protecting both her craft and her future. She refuses to give up on her dream of becoming a master artificer, and with help from old and new allies—including Volfred Scalfarotto—she continues to build a new life through invention, work, and hard-won independence.
