LOCA! unfolds in the quiet remains of rural Japan after human civilization has collapsed into ruin. In this fragmented world, some people live in groups while others move from place to place on their own. Haru and Tamo are two curious girls who roam silent, overgrown ruins and record every strange discovery in a notebook, as if they were mapping a world that has already been forgotten. Their explorations are small and playful, but each abandoned place carries a faint sense of wonder and unease, turning familiar surroundings into reminders of what has been lost.
When Haru and Tamo come across an old commuter train that still runs, their world opens up again. The train gives them a way to travel deeper into the decadent landscape, searching for meaning in the ruins and for whatever might still wait beyond them. Framed as a cheerful, childlike vision of the end of the world, LOCA! balances curiosity, melancholy, and optimism as the two girls keep moving through a broken but strangely free world.
