In Kimi to, Nami ni Noretara (Ride Your Wave), Hinako Mukaimizu is a spirited college student living in a coastal city, drawn more to surfing and the sea than to any clear idea of her future. Her easygoing life changes in an instant after a fireworks mishap sets the apartment building she lives in ablaze, and she is rescued by Minato Hinageshi, a talented firefighter whose calm, dependable presence leaves a deep impression on her. The two quickly grow close: Hinako is captivated by Minato’s willingness to save others and by the steadiness that shapes everything he does, while Minato becomes fascinated by surfing and eager to learn the sport from her. As Hinako teaches him to ride the waves, their bond deepens into a gentle, devoted romance. Yet the same ocean that brings them together also reminds Hinako how fragile happiness can be. When a surfing incident suddenly upends her life, she is left to confront an uncertain future and the question of what she wants to become. With Minato still by her side, Hinako begins searching for her own calling, learning how to move forward, accept change, and, in her own way, ride her own wave.
