In Kaze no Stigma, Kazuma Yagami is a user of Fuujutsu, the ability to control the wind, who returns to the noble Kannagi household after four years in exile. Cast out for his inability to control fire and his defeat in a duel against his younger cousin, Ayano Kannagi, Kazuma comes back to a home that has every reason to hate him. The family’s resentment is only sharpened when several Kannagi members are found murdered by Fuujutsu, turning him into the most convenient suspect.
With Ayano’s hot-headed temper leading the charge, Kazuma is forced to confront the same clan that once banished him while proving he had no part in the killings. What begins as a bitter homecoming quickly becomes a struggle over loyalty, pride, and the dangerous power surrounding the Kannagi line. As the accusations mount, Kazuma must not only clear his name, but also work alongside the family he shares a mutual hatred with in order to uncover the real killer. The tension between wind and fire, exile and duty, defines the series’ supernatural conflict and the uneasy bond between Kazuma and Ayano.
