Itazura na Kiss

Itazura na Kiss follows Kotoko Aihara, a clumsy, low-achieving third-year high school student whose long-running crush on the brilliant Naoki Irie becomes even harder to hide when an earthquake destroys her newly built home. With nowhere else to stay, Kotoko moves into Irie’s house and finds herself living under the same roof as the school’s—and possibly Japan’s—smartest student, the boy she has admired since the beginning of high school. Naoki remembers her differently: an old love letter Kotoko once tried to give him has already branded her as a nuisance in his eyes, and he greets her with icy indifference. Even so, Kotoko refuses to give up on him. Life in the Irie household pushes her into daily contact with his cool demeanor, his quirky friends, and a meddlesome mother who makes every step of her pursuit more complicated. As Kotoko keeps charging ahead with stubborn optimism, Itazura na Kiss balances awkward comedy, school-life tension, and a gradual romance that grows out of a relationship that seems hopeless from the very start.
