Inu to Hasami wa Tsukaiyou centers on Harumi Kazuhito, a high school student whose greatest joy is reading and who idolizes novelist Natsuno Kirihime. When he tries to protect Kirihime from a robber, he is killed and wakes up in the body of a dachshund, suddenly cut off from the books he loves and forced into a bizarre new life. With no way to explain his situation, Kazuhito has to rely on Kirihime, a sharp-tongued writer who carries scissors and is every bit as dangerous as she is useful.
As the pair are drawn into a supernatural mystery-comedy, their uneasy partnership becomes the heart of the story. Kazuhito struggles to adapt to life as a dog while Kirihime's caustic wit, odd habits, and blunt logic keep pulling him into one absurd predicament after another. What begins as a rescue turns into a volatile mix of power struggle, dependency, and unlikely companionship, with deadpan banter and escalating absurdity pushing their relationship in strange new directions.
