Ichijouma Mankitsu Gurashi! follows Meiko, a country girl who enrolls in a prestigious all-girls school on the condition that she join a volunteer program. Instead of a typical school assignment, she is placed at a manga cafe, where her days revolve around a cramped booth, long shifts, and the girls who staff the shop.
What begins as an unusual obligation gradually turns into a quiet routine, with small conversations, awkward moments, and the gentle humor of sharing close quarters. Inside the cafe, Meiko has to adjust to a space far smaller than the life she imagined at school, and the series leans into the warm, intimate rhythms of that setting rather than big dramatic turns.
As she learns the rules of the cafe and gets to know the other girls, her work becomes less like a punishment and more like the start of an everyday life defined by comfort, routine, and the little pleasures found in an unusual place. Ichijouma Mankitsu Gurashi! keeps its focus on that close, cozy atmosphere, using the manga cafe as the center of Meiko’s new world.
