In Hyakuemu., Togashi has long been the fastest elementary school student around. His speed makes him untouchable during every gym class and sports day, and nowhere does his talent shine brighter than in the hundred-meter dash. Bored by the lack of competition, he decides to train Komiya, a transfer student who loves to run but whose bad form leaves him consistently in last place. For a brief time, the two become inseparable, united by their pursuit of speed—until Komiya moves away as suddenly as he arrived.
Years pass, and both boys continue to hone their skills. Their paths and obstacles differ, but each keeps pushing toward the limit of what he can do on the track. When Togashi and Komiya meet again as rivals, the hundred-meter dash becomes more than a race between two gifted runners. It becomes the test of Togashi's long-held belief that every problem can be solved by being the fastest.
