In Honey Lemon Soda, first-year high school student Uka Ishimori is determined to begin again. In middle school, classmates called her "Rocky" because her shy, introverted nature was mistaken for a lack of emotion, and that misunderstanding left her bullied and isolated. At the start of high school, Uka hopes that a new environment will let her leave that loneliness behind and finally become someone who can speak for herself.
Her plans take an unexpected turn when Kai Miura, a classmate with a cool personality that seems to be the opposite of her own, accidentally drenches her in lemon soda during the first week of school. What begins as an awkward encounter slowly turns into encouragement, as Kai's small acts of kindness give Uka the courage to look beyond fear and self-doubt. Surrounded by the nervous excitement of new friendships and the uncertain thrill of change, Uka starts to discover that even the quietest heart can open up. Like a glass of lemon soda, her days begin to fizz with fresh, bubbly, and unexpectedly bright feelings.
