Hachi-nan tte, Sore wa Nai deshou!

In The 8th Son? Are You Kidding Me?, overworked salaryman Shingo Ichinomiya wakes up in the body of six-year-old Wendelin von Benno Baumeister, the eighth son of a poor noble family living in the countryside. In this new world, magic, inherited status, and rigid social ranks shape every opportunity, and Wendelin quickly realizes that being a younger son leaves him with almost no inheritance, few prospects, and even fewer advantages. From the start, his future seems boxed in by birth and by a society that measures a person’s worth long before they have a chance to prove themselves. Refusing to accept that fate, Wendelin uses the memories, discipline, and practical mindset from his former life to study magic and carve out a path of his own. What begins as a simple effort to survive becomes something larger: a bid for independence, self-respect, and a stronger position for his family. As his talent grows, he keeps pushing against the limits imposed by rank and lineage, challenging a world where ability and privilege rarely align.
