Grow Up Show unfolds in Japan during the late 1950s and early 1960s, when the country’s economic boom turns the circus into one of its most popular entertainments. Across the nation, traveling troupes compete for recognition and for a chance to appear at the prestigious Circus Collection festival, where standout companies gather to perform day after day. Among them is the struggling Sunflower Circus, a small troupe led by ringmaster Maria. Burdened by financial trouble but determined to stay on the road, the company’s fragile future begins to shift when circus prodigy Mizuka Tsurumaki joins for reasons she keeps to herself. Around her are other young performers, including Ouka Kawasumi, whose lives are equally tied to the ring.
As Mizuka is drawn into the troupe’s daily routine, Grow Up Show follows the uneasy but inspiring bond that forms between her, Maria, Ouka, and the rest of Sunflower Circus. Rehearsals, travel, and constant competition test each member’s strengths, quirks, and ambitions while the demands of the stage push them to keep their dream alive. In a world where every performance can shape the company’s future, their meeting begins to feel less like coincidence and more like fate.
