GANGLION is set in early 2000s Tokyo, where Isobe serves as a foot soldier for the evil corporation Ganglion and is treated less like a villain than a disposable salaryman. His assignments are absurdly bureaucratic acts of destruction, from the Tokyo Cedar Pollen Operation to the Mount Fuji Demolition Plan, and they usually end the same way: Isobe charges into battle in a bodysuit, only to be defeated again and again by the hero Hopeman.
But the real fight in GANGLION takes place inside the company. Isobe has to survive unreasonable bosses, impossible orders, and the strange pressures of the dawn of compliance inside an organization that treats chaos as normal business. Built as a workplace drama around a man forced to endure both office life and battlefield humiliation, the series blends dry humor, embarrassment, and stubborn persistence into a bittersweet portrait of a salaryman soldier who keeps going no matter how many times he loses.
