Dagashi Kashi

Dagashi Kashi follows a small countryside candy shop that has been run by the Shikada family for nine generations, a modest business devoted to traditional Japanese dagashi. Kokonotsu Shikada, the family's heir and an aspiring manga artist, has no interest in inheriting the store, even though his father keeps urging him to take over the family business. The routine of the shop changes when the eccentric Hotaru Shidare arrives looking for Kokonotsu's father, hoping to bring him back to work for her family's company, the Shidare Corporation, a world-famous sweets manufacturer. The senior Shikada refuses to return unless Hotaru can first convince Kokonotsu to take over the store, and that challenge turns the candy shop into the center of their daily clashes. As Hotaru tries to win him over, she shows Kokonotsu the charm of delicious, nostalgic dagashi and the pleasures hidden inside simple sweets. The result is a playful story where local tradition, family expectations, and the pull of mass-market treats collide, giving the series its lighthearted rhythm and its warm, small-town atmosphere.
