Conception opens with Itsuki, a newly graduated high school student whose life is thrown into disarray when his cousin Mahiru suddenly tells him she is pregnant. Before he can even process the confession, a burst of light drags them into Granvania, a world where the Stars are being swallowed by the Impurities and the land is rapidly collapsing into chaos.
Once in Granvania, Itsuki learns that he is one of the few people destined to meet the Star Maidens, women who can help protect the realm from the corruption spreading across the kingdom. Forced into a role he never asked for, he must work alongside the Star Maidens and produce Star Children if he wants any chance of restoring balance, surviving the Impurities, and finding a way back home.
As Itsuki struggles to understand the burden placed on him, the story turns on the uneasy bond tying him to Mahiru and the pressure of being treated as Granvania’s last hope. Conception blends fantasy, desperation, and intimacy into a story about fate, survival, and the price of answering a world in crisis.
