At Muroe High School, Bamboo Blade centers on the struggling kendo club and its cash-strapped instructor Kojirou, who is desperate enough to chase an unusual wager: if his team can defeat his senpai's team, the reward will be free meals for a whole year. The catch is immediate and daunting. To even stand a chance, Muroe needs girls who are both willing to join the club and skilled enough to compete.
What begins as Kojirou's selfish scramble soon turns into a lively portrait of school life, competition, and friendship as the team takes shape around talented but reserved Tamaki Kawazoe, energetic captain Kirino Chiba, and fellow members Miyako Miyazaki, Sayako Kuwahara, and Satori Azuma. Alongside them are Yuuji Nakata and Danjuuro Eiga, whose presence rounds out the club's eccentric everyday rhythm. As practice, rivalries, and tournaments push the group forward, the series balances comedy with earnest sports drama, using kendo not only as its central discipline but also as the thread that binds together a mismatched cast of students and their flawed teacher.
