Baccano!

Baccano! threads together a web of stories set in 1930s America and beyond, where the transcontinental Flying Pussyfoot barrels across the country under a growing shadow of violence. In Chicago and New York, rival mafia families, ambitious criminals, and unlikely accomplices all chase fragments of a rumor tied to an immortality elixir, while the eccentric pair Isaac and Miria drift through the chaos and keep drawing strangers into their orbit in unexpected ways. The story also reaches back to 1711, when alchemists aboard the Advena Avis confront the cost of eternal life and the consequences of what they have awakened. By leaping between eras and locations, Baccano! blends gang warfare, alchemy, and dark comedy into a frenetic tale of survival, greed, and the strange connections that bind its cast together. Each encounter folds into another, so the same events are revisited from shifting angles as passengers, gangsters, and alchemists collide. What begins as a hunt for power becomes a riotous puzzle of loyalty, accidents, and consequences.
