Awajima Hyakkei follows the girls who enter the Awajima Musical School Training Camp, a girls-only "boarding house" where students from across Japan live and train for the stage. Told through shifting viewpoints and moments across time, the story traces the formative years shared by Tabata Wakana, who aspires to become a musical star; Takehara Kinue, the housemaster who came to carry out her best friend's wishes; beautiful scholarship student Okabe Emi, who is always at the center of attention; and Ibuki Katsurako, who became a teacher at the school after coming from a family of actresses.
Within this unusual environment, the musical school is both a refuge and a battlefield. It gives these aspiring girls space to grow, but it also forces them into harsh competition and emotional pressure as they fight for a place on stage. Perseverance can lead to blossoming talent, yet the same world can turn cruel without warning. With its clear depiction and psychological focus, Awajima Hyakkei brings out the subtle inner workings of each character while showing how the school shapes their bonds and ambitions.
