Hagure Yuusha no Aesthetica unfolds in a world changed by Samon Syndrome, a phenomenon discovered 30 years ago that has sent thousands of young people into fantasy worlds, with only a small number returning home and bringing back the special abilities they gained there.
At the center of the story is Akatsuki Ousawa, the "Rogue Hero," who leaves behind a peaceful life in the fantasy world of Alayzard and returns to Earth with Miu, the daughter of the Demon King he defeated. To keep her true identity hidden, he forces her to pose as his younger sister while the two of them enroll in Babel, a special school created for returnees who have acquired magical powers and other unusual abilities through their travels to another world.
Babel claims to train these interdimensional travelers and guide them onto the right path for the sake of humanity and their own futures, but Akatsuki and Miu soon realize that its real purpose is anything but clear. As they navigate campus politics, face the hostility of the powerful student council, and deal with the secrets surrounding the school, Akatsuki continues to live by his own rules while Miu tries to understand both the human world and the role she has been forced to play.
