Biography

Hometown: Hachinohe, Aomori, Japan Blood type: A Height: 160 cm Weight: 45 kg (Married on her 30th birthday, August 26, 2007) Saeko Chiba began ballet at a young age, aspiring to join the Takarazuka Revue. However, after failing the entrance exam for Takarazuka Music School in her third year of middle school, she joined the Minami Aoyama Shōjo Kageki Dan, a stage group for teenage girls. During her three years with the troupe, Saeko landed several lead roles and was later cast as the lead voice actress for Kotori Haruno in the Sega Dreamcast game Diamond Daydreams. After experiencing the world of voice acting and realizing her preference for it over stage performance, Saeko decided to pursue this career full-time. Some of her early roles include her debut as Tsubaki Sakura in Kare Kano, Kitsune no Akane in Angel Tales, and Elliot Chapman in Sci-fi Harry. Known for her long, straight black hair and seemingly cold demeanor, she was often cast in various tsundere and 'cool-girl' roles. In the spring of 2005, she cut her hair short, which coincided with a broader diversity in her roles, as she mentioned in a My-HiME fandisc interview. Saeko has also ventured into singing, collaborating with Yuki Kajiura, who composed music for some of the Nanshō stage shows, writing and producing nearly all of her material. Her first single, Koi no Kiseki, served as the theme song for the PlayStation game Meguri Aishite. Since then, she has released nine singles and two albums, along with various character songs and drama CDs. She has also performed theme songs for games like Alundra 2 and Atelier Judie. Additionally, Saeko was part of the group tiaraway with fellow Nanshō member Yuuka Nanri. Initially recording and performing as 'Saeko Chiba & Yuuka Nanri' for Memories Off 2nd, the duo released three singles and an album before disbanding on March 6, 2005.
