Biography
Fear, and Loathing in Las Vegas (FaLiLV) is a Japanese electronicore band formed in Kobe in 2008. The group is renowned for its chaotic yet melodic fusion of post-hardcore, heavy metal, and various electronic genres like trance and techno. Their signature sound is defined by the contrasting 'twin vocal' dynamic: So's high-pitched, heavily autotuned melodic singing and Minami's aggressive screaming and rapping, often accompanied by complex keyboard arrangements.
The band achieved significant mainstream success through high-profile tie-ins with popular anime series. Notable tracks include 'Chase the Light!' (Kaiji: Against All Rules), 'Just Awake' (Hunter x Hunter), and the global hit 'Let Me Hear' (Parasyte -the maxim-). These collaborations helped establish them as a leading force in the Japanese 'loud rock' scene, characterized by high-energy performances and a genre-bending approach to composition.
Throughout their career, the band has released several full-length albums such as 'Dance & Scream', 'All That We Have Now', and 'New Sunrise', consistently appearing on the Oricon charts. Despite facing significant challenges, including the departure of guitarist Sxun in 2018 and the tragic passing of bassist Kei in early 2019, the band has demonstrated remarkable resilience. With the addition of bassist Tetsuya in 2019, they continued their musical evolution with releases like 'Hypertoughness' and 'Cocoon for the Golden Future'.
FaLiLV remains a unique entity in the music world, blending the intensity of metalcore with the danceable rhythms of club music. Their influence extends beyond Japan, having performed at numerous international festivals and maintaining a dedicated global fanbase drawn to their experimental sound and high-octane visual identity.
